Greetings!

God is so big and I am so small.

I was reminded of this on several occasions lately.  One was when I was sitting in my tent without the fly on it, looking out at the incredible display of stars in the night sky.  That always takes my breath away.  Another was when someone recently sent me all sorts of pictures containing various planets in our solar system.  It compared the size of earth to the size of all these other planets, the sun and other planets we know of outside our own system.  Wow- we are among the smallest of the planets!  And of course, whenever I fly and have the privilege of having the window seat, I look down and marvel at just how small everything looks from above.  There was a popular Bette Midler song a few years back called “From a distance.”  She sung about how “God is watching us… from a distance” without seeing all the bad things on earth because from a distance everything looks to be going smoothly.

So here’s the thing.  We are so very, very small and He is so very, very big.  The real miracle is the awesome fact that God gives a rip about us at all.  But He does!  More than that- His incredible love, like Him, is also so very, very big.  So huge, that He sent Jesus to our small planet to rescue us from ourselves.  Incredible.  We are these tiny, helpless humans, yet God says, “No.  You are valuable to me and I will give myself up for you- I love you that much.  I see your hurt and I have the answer- the answer is in Jesus.”  So Bette, you’re wrong.  God has done so much more than watch.  He’s lavished His love upon mankind and is just waiting on baited breath to see if we are going to accept and reciprocate that love.  Look around- the signs of his awesome power and creativity are all around us.  His love and grace are freely available.  All we have to do is embrace it.

Through Him, our “smallness” turns into great worth… because we are valued and adopted by the King.  If you don’t know Jesus and would like to know about a relationship with him, please don’t hesitate to ask me how.  I would love to introduce Him to you.

For His fame,

Pastor Michelle
