FAM SLAMM VBS FACTS:

What in the world is FAM SLAMM VBS?!?!?

FAM SLAMM VBS (Families singing, laughing, and making memories) is a family-style VBS. For the first 35 minutes (6:30 – 7:05 pm.) families attend the opening program together in our Family KonneXion Theater. Once this “Main Event/Opening Program” is done, parents/adults will be dismissed.  We ask that all parents leave the premises including the parking lot area till dismissal.

Who is FAM SLAMM geared toward?

This 5 day event is geared towards families with children entering 1st through 7th grade but ALL FAMILIES are welcome to attend the FAM SLAMM Main Event/Opening Program.

Can kids come to FAM SLAMM Opening Program/Main Event without their parents?

Yes they can. However we strongly encourage your child to attend the Main Event/Opening Program with a mom/dad/uncle/aunt/grandparent/adult friend. In case they cannot, we will pair them up with one of our volunteers. Special seating in the back of the theatre will be assigned for this. You must indicate in your registration form that an adult is not able to attend with your child.

What happens to the kids after parents/other adult leave FAM SLAMM at 7:05?

Based on your child’s grade level, he/she will be placed with a leader and assistant.  They will then rotate to different stations around the campus: crafts, games, classroom and snack/store.

Where can parents go?

We will have a reception area for parents to mingle and spend time with each other. This will be located by the garage. A portable bathroom will be available for your convenience. Once the main event is over, all other areas but the location marked as 'Parent' will be off limits to ALL visitors/parents. Help us keep our kids safe!

What if we have younger kids that cannot participate in FAM SLAMM because they do not meet the age requirement?

You are welcome to bring your younger aged children to the Main Event. However they cannot be dropped off for the rotation. Due to limited space we are not able to accommodate all age groups at this time.

What is the FAM SLAMM Finale/Carnival?

We invite all Parents and family members to attend our V.B.S.  Cookout. Mark your calendars and plan on attending a carnival style cookout with lots of fun and activities. We will serve you hamburgers and hot-dogs hot off the grill! Enjoy some chips, fruit, cotton-candy and desserts too.  We will also have a giant slide and face painting.

Does Living Hope Church offer other Family programming?

As stated above, the core mission of KICK Ministries at LHC is to equip and encourage parents to be the primary spiritual leaders of their kids. Because of this, we place a great deal of emphasis on FAMILY programming. You can see this in the following activities:

1. Family KonneXion Live Service! – Every Sunday at 10:35 am we provide programming for the whole family. It is an opportunity for parents and kids to learn and worship together. This is a NO DROP OFF ZONE so parents MUST attend with their children! This time mimics the Main Event at FAM SLAMM.   We introduce a new virtue every month and provide material for devotions.  While you enjoy this time with your kids, we have an exciting program for your teens.

2. US 252 Kidz Small Groups - We want children to 1st through 6th grade to discover what it is to be wise and make right decisions. We also want to see them develop Godly friendships. We have created an environment that helps us to this. This program is very family-friendly and incorporates a biblical “virtue of the month” into the lessons. Kids get “Fridge Notes” each week to take home with them as well as “God Time” cards that encourage them to work on these virtues at home. This program is offered at both 9:15 and 11:30 every Sunday morning. Parents and teens can attend our service during this time.

3. Family Time Kits - Parents also have the opportunity to buy “Family Time Kits.” For $10 each month, parents receive a pack that contains a “drive-time” CD as well as “Meal Time,” “Bed Time,” and “Morning Time” cards that give creative ways to work on the virtue and discuss the Bible stories throughout the week.

4. Family Events- We plan numerous events throughout the year that focus on families and all age groups at LHC.
